SPECS of KENSINGTON, in one of the most affluent areas of the UK, is to make a tangible difference to local homeless people by sponsoring a vision clinic in Shepherd’s Bush. The £7,000 donation by practice owner, Daska Barnett (pictured left), is in support of her colleague and fellow optometrist Elaine Styles (right).
“Elaine and I have worked together for 26 years – at Specs of Kensington and at Moorfields – and her dedication to the charity which she founded and continues to lead is unswerving. Elaine has cycled thousands of miles to raise funds for the charity and we are full of admiration for her dedication to this vulnerable sector of society.”
Vision Care for Homeless People has clinics in London, Brighton, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Exeter and is keen to see more open, with regional support from businesses and volunteer optometrists.
